We have a few more days before the rat starts feeling the effects of it's infection, and succumbing to them... So I thought I'd take this time to tell you all about how I produce my food. I am a superior breed of bacteria (at least in my opinion) because I am facultative anaerobic. This means I can undergo both aerobic respiration and anaerobic fermentation.
In anaerobic respiration I use oxygen gas and glucose (the same type of reaction humans undergo) to produce carbon dioxide, water, and energy. This type of reaction allows me to gain the maximum amount of energy possible, but it requires that my host organism has O2 gas in their bloodstream.
In anaerobic fermentation I get energy from oxidation of organic compounds such as carbohydrates, and also produce and consume Hydrogen gas. Although this process is not as efficient as aerobic respiration, it is just as useful because it can be undergone when there is little or no oxygen for me to use in the bloodstream of my host.
Well I'm tired from all this explaining, I wonder if there'll be anything new happening tomorrow?
